Carbide Components
What Are Carbide Components?
Carbide components, also known as tungsten carbide components or cemented carbide parts, are precision industrial components made from tungsten carbide powder bonded with cobalt or nickel. Pressed and sintered at high temperatures, they form an extremely dense, hard material that withstands severe abrasive wear, high pressure, and elevated temperatures.
Renyuan Mould supplies a wide range of standard and custom carbide components for metal forming, machining, and wear-part applications. Every component is engineered for long service life, tight dimensional accuracy, and reliable performance in continuous production.
Key Properties and Advantages
Carbide components outperform conventional tool steels in demanding service. Hardness typically ranges from 86 to 93 HRA, three to four times harder than hardened steel. The material also offers high compressive strength, low thermal expansion, excellent abrasion resistance, and stable edges under high-speed and high-temperature operation.
These properties mean longer tool life, fewer changeovers, better surface finish on the end product, and lower cost per part in high-volume production.
Available Carbide Grades
We offer fine-grain grades for cutting and fine blanking, medium-grain grades for general stamping and drawing, and coarse-grain grades for severe impact and cold heading. Each grade is selected by workpiece material, forming speed, lubrication, and expected wear pattern. Customer-specified grades per ISO K, P, or M classifications are also welcome.
Manufacturing Process
Production begins with powder preparation and die pressing or cold isostatic pressing. Green compacts are sintered in vacuum or hydrogen furnaces above 1400 degrees Celsius to fully densify the carbide skeleton. Parts then go through cylindrical, surface, and internal grinding, wire EDM, and lapping to reach final dimensions.
Precision Tolerances and Surface Finish
Tight tolerances down to plus or minus 0.002 millimeters are routine on critical features. Surface roughness can be held to Ra 0.1 or better through lapping and polishing, which is critical for drawing dies, extrusion dies, and sealing surfaces.
Common Applications
Typical carbide components include punches, dies, buttons, inserts, guide rollers, wear pads, sealing rings, nozzle sleeves, wire drawing capstans, and custom-shaped wear parts. They are used in stamping dies, progressive dies, cold forming tools, deep drawing, extrusion, wire drawing, textile machinery, oil and gas equipment, and precision gauges.
Industry Sectors Served
Our carbide components are widely used in automotive manufacturing, fastener and cold heading production, aerospace tooling, electronics and connector stamping, wire and cable drawing, and general precision engineering.
Custom Design and Engineering Support
For parts not available as standard catalog items, we offer full custom design based on customer drawings, samples, or application descriptions. Our engineering team helps with grade selection, geometry optimization, and material recommendation to maximize component life.
Quality Control and Packaging
Every component is inspected before shipment, including hardness testing, dimensional checks, surface roughness measurement, and visual inspection. Parts are protected with anti-rust oil, foam wrapping, and reinforced export packing. We ship worldwide by express, air, or sea freight, with standard lead time of two to four weeks.
