Tungsten Carbide Blank
What Are Tungsten Carbide Blanks?
Tungsten carbide blanks are semi-finished cemented carbide components pressed and sintered to near-net shape, ready for finish grinding and machining. Renyuan Mould supplies a wide range of carbide blanks in standard and custom geometries for tool and die makers.
These blanks provide the foundation for cutting tools, drawing dies, stamping punches, wear parts, and precision components where extreme hardness and wear resistance are required.
Types of Carbide Blanks
We supply carbide round blanks, rectangular blanks, square blanks, tube blanks, ring blanks, disk blanks, and custom-shaped blanks. Blanks can be produced as-sintered, semi-finished, or precision ground according to customer requirements.
Common forms include rods, plates, blocks, bushes, and nozzle preforms.
Material Grades
Our carbide blanks are available in fine-grain, medium-grain, and coarse-grain grades to match different applications. Cobalt content ranges from 6% to 15%, balancing hardness and toughness.
Special grades such as nickel-bonded corrosion-resistant and titanium-containing grades are also available.
Manufacturing Process
Carbide blanks are produced by mixing tungsten carbide powder with cobalt binder, pressing into dies, and sintering in vacuum furnaces at high temperature. The sintered blanks are then sized, chamfered, and inspected before delivery.
Tolerances
As-sintered blanks are supplied with typical grinding allowances of 0.3 to 0.5 millimeters per side. Semi-finished blanks can be provided with tighter tolerances to reduce final machining time. Precision ground blanks are available to customer drawings.
Applications
Carbide blanks are used to manufacture cutting tools, drawing dies, punches, dies, nozzles, seal rings, wear pads, and precision gauge components. They are essential in metalworking, automotive, aerospace, mining, and oil and gas industries.
Custom Blank Production
Renyuan Mould can produce custom carbide blanks based on customer drawings or samples. We assist with grade selection, geometry optimization, and near-net shape design to minimize material waste and machining costs.
Quality Control
Every batch of carbide blanks undergoes hardness testing, density measurement, dimensional inspection, and visual inspection for cracks or defects. Material certifications are available on request.
