PRODUCTDETAILS
Tungsten Carbide Mold
What Are Tungsten Carbide Molds?
Tungsten carbide molds are precision tooling dies made from cemented tungsten carbide, used for forming, drawing, extruding, and shaping metal and non-metal materials. Renyuan Mould manufactures high-quality carbide molds designed for long production life and consistent part accuracy.
Carbide molds are widely preferred over steel molds in high-volume production because they resist abrasive wear, maintain polished surfaces, and hold tight tolerances for millions of cycles.
Advantages of Carbide Molds
Tungsten carbide molds offer hardness up to 90 HRA, excellent compressive strength, and outstanding wear resistance. They can operate at elevated temperatures without dimensional changes and deliver superior surface finish on molded parts.
Using carbide molds reduces tool maintenance, lowers downtime, and improves product consistency, making them cost-effective for mass production.
Types of Carbide Molds
We produce carbide drawing dies, extrusion dies, deep drawing molds, stamping dies, cold heading dies, wire drawing dies, and custom-shaped forming molds. Each mold is engineered to match the specific material and production process.
Mold cavities can be machined with complex profiles, radii, and features according to customer part drawings.
Carbide Grade Selection
Grade selection depends on the application. Fine-grain grades are used for precision drawing and polishing applications. Medium-grain grades balance wear resistance and toughness for general forming. Coarse-grain grades handle heavy impact and high-pressure extrusion.
We also supply corrosion-resistant grades for stainless steel and titanium processing.
Manufacturing Process
Carbide molds are produced through powder pressing, vacuum sintering, and precision grinding. Cavities are machined by wire EDM, sinker EDM, or grinding, then polished to achieve the required surface finish.
Each mold component is inspected for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and hardness before shipment.
Tolerances and Surface Finish
Mold cavities can be held to tolerances of plus or minus 0.005 millimeters. Polished surfaces reaching Ra 0.05 are achievable for drawing and extrusion dies where material flow is critical.
Applications and Industries
Carbide molds serve automotive component manufacturing, wire and cable production, fastener manufacturing, kitchenware and tableware forming, metal packaging, and jewelry production. They are essential wherever high precision and long die life are required.
Custom Mold Design
Renyuan Mould provides custom mold design based on customer drawings, samples, or part specifications. Our engineering team helps with cavity geometry, draft angles, radius design, and grade selection to optimize mold performance.
Quality and Delivery
Every carbide mold is hardness tested, dimensionally inspected, and visually checked. We pack molds with anti-rust protection and export-grade packaging. Standard lead time is two to four weeks, with rush service available.
